Carl Kulle and Margit Carlqvist in Ingmar Bergman’s Smiles of a Summer Night. A delightful rondo of jealousy and passion, the film in some ways evokes for me Renoir’s Rules of the Game. This is a masterful study in the mechanics of men and women playing at the game of love.
